Bitchin Bajas are a Chicago-based trio consisting of Cooper Crain, Rob Frye and Daniel Quinlivan. Since forming in 2010, the group has developed a distinctive approach to ambient and experimental music, combining synthesizers, woodwinds, organs and acoustic instruments into slowly unfolding, hypnotic compositions. Drawing from minimalism, kosmische Musik, jazz and electronic music, Bitchin Bajas create immersive sound worlds built around repetition, texture and gradual transformation. Over the years, the trio has built an extensive body of work, largely released through Drag City, while collaborating with artists including Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Natural Information Society.
