Artist & drummer in a wide range of styles and configurations

Artist & drummer in a wide range of styles and configurations, Béatrice Graf also composes. Since 1996, she has been developing her own projects, often involving atypical instrumentation. An early success was her 1997 Pro Helvetia composition, commissioned by Beat & Lip.
Solo to sextet, improvisation to composition, swing to hardcore, acoustic to electronic, she makes fun of limitations, from stylistic conventions to orchestration.
In projects and collaborations with jazz, rock, world, electronic musicians as well as theatre and multimedia contemporary artists, Béatrice Graf has developed her own sound and identity over the years. At the same time, she is up to every challenge of free improvisation in myriad contexts. Among the artists she has worked with are Rudi van der Merwe, Vinz Vonlanthen, Dave Douglas, Jacques Siron, Guillaume Perret, Neba Solo (Mali), Jean-Jacques Pedretti, Christian Weber, Bruno Amstad, Bänz Oester, MC J.P. Kalongi, Jacques Demierre, Ian Gordon Lennox, Nicolas Sordet, Claude Jordan, James Zollar, Amampondo (Cape Town 1998), Philippe Schaufelberger, Jean-Luc Bideau, Jon Saas, Cheo Allen Solder Jeffery, Ratrabra "Homage to Ornette Coleman" (Co Streiff, Hilaria Kramer), Duo with Rudi van der Merwe (dance), Transhumance (blog), B. Blessing, Catherine Gaillard, Laurent Bortolotti, Costel & Dorel Surbeck (worldchampions of tap dancing), Luzia Hürzeler...
Béatrice Graf has toured extensively in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa, in particular with Four Roses; the Peter Schärli special sextet, featuring Glenn Ferris; and B. G. Windows, featuring Corin Curschellas & Sylvie Courvoisier, Deviana Daudsjah trio.
